atreideslioness: (OOC the 2nd!)
So as we mentioned here, this Sunday's Fight Club will be tag-team fights! We're asking people to sign-up with a partner, and then we'll RNG pairs together. Sign-ups close Friday at noon, and yes, this is open to alumni too, if you know you're going to be on the island.

We're hoping to RNG stuff Friday afternoon, so that we can notify people of their matches, so things can get planned out or preplayed, in case of timezone insanity.

And, as always, we're looking to do more themed weeks with Fight Club -- if you have an idea, please suggest it!

Sometime Saturday afternoon, posters began appearing around town, courtesy of a frighteningly cheerful Ghanima.

Take Your Best Shot
Fandom Fight Club
Sunday Evening, Atlas Gym

and

You Aren't As Good As You Think You Are
Fandom Fight Club
Sunday Evening, Atlas Gym

She took a step back to admire her work, smiling for a moment before moving on to the next spot that seemed to need a flyer.

It would be interesting to see who showed up.

[Establishy, but open if you want to react to the posters or ask Ghanima a question.]

Due to the newbie weekend invasion, there will be no Fight Club tomorrow. Tyler and Ghanima would like to give the new residents a chance to settle in before possibly throwing them around the gym. Please handwave they mentioned this last week before assigning the matches, and that a reminder notice is posted on the door of their regular sparring space. Fandom Fight Club will resume next Sunday at its usual place and time.

For those of you with new characters who will want to join, I refer you to this post for RNG sign-up goodness.

We now return you to your newbie squeeing. YAY NEW PEOPLE.

ETA: We don't own Atlas, so if someone wants to go make their own post to work out anyway, please feel free. However, the organizers have classes to prep for, hence announcing the cancellation last week.

Sometimes, it was very nice to have a standing account with the pizza delivery people. It insured good service and excellent food, and they knew how to get to her suite in record time. It gave Ghanima time to unpack from Special Agent Cooper's wedding instead of trying to fuss in the kitchen, especially since cooking was not one of her favorite hobbies to begin with.

There was a notebook and poster-making materials spread out over her table, sodas in the fridge, and now Ghanima was contentedly perched on the couch with her dinner while she waited for her guest.

It was time to hammer out the new rules for fight club, and they had a lot of work to do. )

[OOC: Preplayed with the beyond-awesomesauce [livejournal.com profile] tyler_back, and up early so that I don't forget. NFI, OOC = Love.]

I said I'd post this again, and lo, I have!

As mentioned, Fight Club is re-organizing! Kinda! Instead of three groups for the RNG, there will now be two, to give the members a chance to learn from more experienced fighters.

This weekend, there will also be a thread for IC evaluations, for those of you in-club who are looking to change groups, or just get suggestions on how to improve your technique.

For those of you unfamiliar with Fight Club, the premise is simple. )

Fight Club takes place on Sunday evenings at the Atlas Gym, posted on Sunday morning for maximum SP. All fights will be supervised by Ghanima and/or Tyler, and neither of them is afraid to wade in and break things up if they have to.

Everyone check the OCD to indicate your interest, and ask any questions!

ETA: Yup, we're asking even previous participants to re-register, as we 1) do not wish to mod ability levels, even based on the previous RNG results, and 2) we know schedules change, especially in the summer. You can always opt in/out of the next week's RNG by leaving us a note in the OOC thread, so don't feel you need to make every meeting.

As you may have seen over here in Open Forum....

After over a year of teaching, if there is one thing Ghanima Atreides has learned, it is this: the students of Fandom are wonderfully brilliant, unpredictable, gifted children.

They also have a pathological need to hit things when they get stressed.

Letting half-trained children wave weapons at other children in an unsupervised manner, however, goes against everything she is as a Bene Gesserit and a Fremen. Fighting is not a game, and training does not mean the occasional trip to the salle or gym when you've had a bad day. This is why she has partnered (Not Dirty) with Tyler Durden, to offer a weekly space to deal with aggression and improve upon your own abilities.

This is not a place for those with delicate sensibilities. You will hit the mat. You will go home bruised, bleeding, and sore. You will not feel good about yourself at the end of the day. You will, however, achieve some form of catharsis. If you're lucky, you'll also be less-likely to die when faced with a superior opponent.

This program is open to students, teachers, townies, and anyone else on the island. During Homecoming, the alumni are also welcome to join us for a few rounds. If you are there, however, you are participating. There are no spectators in Fandom Fight Club.

Fight Club takes place on Sunday evenings, posted on Sunday morning for maximum SP. Wear clothing you can move in, and bring a towel. All fights will be supervised by Ghanima and/or Tyler, and neither of them is afraid to wade in and break things up if they have to.
