atreideslioness: (Litany Against Fear)
Too often, students become wrapped up in the strange culture of Fandom Island, never looking past its boarders to see the wider world. This class is an opportunity to explore the mainland on a regular basis, and take in some of the wonders that this planet has to offer. Students will travel by portal to various points of interest all over the United States, spending two hours at each stop to learn about the culture of the time and place they are living in.

THIS IS A FIELD TRIP CLASS. Instead of isolating students by using the Danger Shop to simulate non-Fandom environments, Ghanima is going to take the students off-island to three museums, three plays, three national parks, and three formal restaurants. This gives us twelve classes, which gives me room to adjust in case of BDE/Trauma/RL. Because, ngl, this is Fandom, and there will be trauma at some point. That's just how it works. Ghanima will be wearing sunglasses or special contacts to disguise her eyes when off-island, and suggests that any clearly non-human students consider making similar adjustments. Causing riots is not nearly as fun as it sounds.

She is also in the market for a TA. Comments are screened, questions will be unscreened, and the RNG will dictate the TA on Monday.

"I didn't celebrate last year, you know."

Ghanima paid for the food, giving the delivery boy the usual large tip before sending him away and trying to maneuver her way around the weetiny Christmas tress littering the floor and into the kitchenette of her suite, balancing all six boxes of pizza with ease. "It didn't seem right without you here."

[For the twin who was modded with affection & up early for timezone SP of Love. Although if you have a reason to pester the birthday Atreides, feel free to drop in.]

Sometime Saturday afternoon, posters began appearing around town, courtesy of a frighteningly cheerful Ghanima.

She took a step back to admire her work, smiling for a moment before moving on to the next spot that seemed to need a flyer.

It would be interesting to see who showed up.

[Open, if you really want to encounter Ghanima and have questions, but I'm off to play WoW for a few hours around. FOR THE HORDE!]

They'd barely been back for a day, but Ghanima already missed the sand and sunshine of the last week. The water, well, she could live without just fine.

Today she'd spend in her office, trying to get as many of her future classes written as possible, and thinking on her still in-progress conversation with Mr. Durden from yesterday.

This would either be a fantastic success, or a disaster.

[For he with the ears, but open office is open. ETA: That Merlin came by for his Latin lesson is FB, rest of conversation NFB.]

Ghani didn't work with her school issued laptop often, preferring books, pen, and paper to the electronic click of the keyboard. Checking her email once a week was one of her few concessions to the digital age in which she currently lived.

Even if she did distrust the Maker-cursed Machines with a passion.

The email she received today, however, warranted an immediate response.

It was not, perhaps, the most diplomatic response Ghanima could have composed, but for some reason she was having difficulty reigning in her temper this week. )

That accomplished, Ghanima settled in to draw up lesson plans for after-break, occasionally glancing over at her email to see if she had a response.

[Open office is open and fleeing from OCD!]

Ghanima was in her office again, catching up on yet more correspondence.

If any of it had anything to do with what she had heard on the radio last night, well, it was the prerogative of a twin to tease her brother.

Although now she wondered if she was going to get a younger version of the aforementioned twin in her office today. Perhaps warning him about the squirrels would not be remiss.

[OOC: Open office is open and OCD Freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! SP warning applies, as does the 'Highly Caffeinated, Flee in Terror' alert.]

Sunday, Ghanima had learned, was a day for lazing about and doing absolutely nothing whatsoever. Even if she hadn't yet finished class for Monday, she refused to get out of bed before noon.

Which is why she continued to ignore her ringing telephone. If it was important, she'd know. That was the joy of being a mild precognitive.

Eventually, however, she got up to listen to the machine, and quickly became amused at the litany of messages. Clearly, their anti-drugs message on Friday had had the opposite effect on the populace.

Laughing, she set about calling everyone back. It was only polite, after all, and perhaps the humiliation when they sobered up would be a good reminder not to over-indulge quite so much.

Ghanima was in her office again today, in case anyone had questions about the assignment. Or if anyone wanted to bother her in-general, really. Lurking about her suite was dull, and there was only so many times she could look at the various treaties and legal documents Leto sent her before she went absolutely stir crazy and decided that it would be easier to assassinate the entire Ixian delegation and start from scratch.

Actually, that wasn't a bad idea.

Humming happily, Ghanima set about drawing up plans for ways she could eliminate one of them to Make A Point. Maybe Leto would be nice, and let her deal with that one that kept calling her the "Lowly Honored Daughter of Muad'Dib."

Sometimes it was Good to be the Empress.

Slightly before class, Ghanima slipped into her office to send out an email. She still hated the infernal computers, but at least they were useful for things like this.

Dear Staff... )

She read it over quickly and hit send before settling back in her chair to go over today's notes. This should prove quite educational.

[OOC: Open office is open prior to 3rd period for visitors or responses to the email.]

Ghanima had awoken this morning to an almighty clamour in her head.  Apparently, Mohiam and Jessica were hyperventilating about something Ghanima had done (was doing?) again, and Chani had gently instructed her daughter to go find breakfast before firmly pulling the inner-door shut between Ghani and her tau awarenesses.

Mind blissfully silent for once, Ghani began poking around the strange quarters.  "Stil!" she yelled, climbing up on a counter to check the cupboards.  "Harah?"

When no one answered her, Ghani climbed down, and began setting about to go exploring.  This was going to be an adventure, and there was no one here to tell her no.

[OOC:  Establishy, but open if you'd have reason to pester a seven-year-old Ghanima.  She's still got the blue-on-blue eyes, so she's rather hard to mistake for anyone else, even being wee.

As a side note, today is Moving Day, so there will be periods of AFK-ness!]
